What is Martialnote?

A web tool to run a small martial arts school: records, attendance, progress and fees. It replaces paper and spreadsheets.

Is it really free?

Yes, up to 25 active students, with no time limit. Beyond that, a flat subscription applies.

What is an active student?

A student who had an attendance, a dues payment or progress in the last 90 days, or whose record is less than 90 days old. The count is automatic in the app.

What if my school goes over 25 active students?

If your school had 25 active students or fewer when it joined, you get the founder price for life, without taking one of the 25 spots. A school that already has more when it joins takes a founder spot if one is left; otherwise the regular price applies. Either way, we notify you after two months in a row above 25, and the first payment comes at least one month later. Happy consequence: you still get three free months, give or take ;)

Does the app collect payments?

No. Martialnote keeps track of who has paid and who is behind; transfers and cash stay exactly as they are today.

Why not just a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet stores data, but it doesn't take attendance during class or flag late fees and students who stopped coming. Martialnote imports your spreadsheet: you don't start from scratch.

I don't have time to move everything over.

Allow about twenty minutes to import your student list. The rest (groups, schedule, progress) can wait: you take your first attendance at the next class.

My instructors aren't comfortable with technology.

For attendance, they tap the names of the students who are there, on their phone. The head of the school invites them by email; there is no password to remember.

What if there's no network at the school?

Attendance works without a network. It stays on the phone and is sent as soon as it reconnects.

Can I pay yearly?

Yes. The yearly subscription gives about two months free: $149 at the founder rate, $249 at the regular rate, taxes included. Monthly stays available ($14.99 or $24.99), and the founder rate is locked for life in both.
