Martialnote

For a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy

Monthly subscriptions, belts earned slowly and degrees to track: running a BJJ academy is simple to describe and heavy to keep up with.

What your academy has to keep

Belts are earned over years, with degrees in between, and every professor has their own way of deciding a promotion. Students come to several classes a week, which makes the attendance count important for subscriptions. You also need to know who trains regularly, who is drifting away, and when a class counts towards progress.

  • Belts and degrees between belts.
  • Several classes a week per student.
  • Attendance count for subscriptions.
  • Students drifting away without warning.

What Martialnote does for this style

The BJJ belt template is ready, with the degrees; you adjust it to your criteria, which remain yours. Monthly subscriptions are counted to the class, class cards are tracked the same way, and the dues screen shows arrears without you having to search. A student absent three weeks is flagged before they have drifted away.

  • Belt and degree template ready.
  • Monthly subscriptions counted to the class.
  • Dues arrears visible at a glance.
  • Students drifting away, flagged in time.

The starting Brazilian jiu-jitsu program

  • Positions : Mount and side control
  • Positions : Back control

Ranks

A rank template is offered as a starting point, with no official character: it describes a common usage, which your school renames and recolours freely. Promotion conditions — age, months of practice, attendance — are set per rank.

  • Brazilian jiu-jitsu (IBJJF) — Children’s belts · ages 4 to 15, Adult belts, Black belt degrees

Questions

Are degrees tracked separately from belts?

Yes: the template provides for degrees, with the number of stripes possible per belt.

Can I count the classes attended per month?

Yes. The month's attendance feeds the subscription count, visible on the student's record.
