Martialnote

For an aikido dojo

With no competition, aikido progress shows in regular practice and seminars. Tracking should reflect that, without turning the dojo into a ranking.

What your dojo has to keep

Techniques are practised in pairs, which makes groups and partners important. Weapons — jo, bokken — are part of the teaching, and one-off seminars punctuate the year. Many students come for years without hurrying towards a rank, and the dojo must be able to show regularity as much as what has been earned.

  • Techniques in pairs, in groups.
  • Weapons: jo, bokken.
  • One-off seminars through the year.
  • Regularity as much as ranks.

What Martialnote does for this style

Attendance is taken in seconds, and one-off sessions — seminars, special classes — are created alongside the regular classes. The rank template adjusts to your dojo's system, and program items are tied to ranks or left free. A milestone can mark a seminar or an important event on a student's record.

  • One-off sessions for seminars.
  • Adjustable rank template.
  • Milestones for notable events.
  • Fast attendance, even offline.

The starting Aikido program

When the school is created, Martialnote offers the “Aikido, foundations” template. Every item can be renamed, moved or removed; the categories are: Ukemi, Techniques, Weapons.

  • Ukemi : Mae ukemi and ushiro ukemi
  • Techniques : Ikkyo
  • Techniques : Shiho-nage
  • Techniques : Irimi-nage
  • Techniques : Kote-gaeshi
  • Weapons : Bokken — suburi 1 to 7
  • Weapons : Jo — suburi

Ranks

A rank template is offered as a starting point, with no official character: it describes a common usage, which your school renames and recolours freely. Promotion conditions — age, months of practice, attendance — are set per rank.

  • Aikido (Aikikai) — Kyu, Dan
  • Generic kyu and dan — Kyu, Dan

Questions

Can I create a one-off class for a seminar?

Yes. A one-off session is created alongside the regular classes, with its own groups and sheet.

Can weapons be tracked separately?

Yes: they form a category of the program, with their own items.
