Know who was in class, without a paper book
The attendance book gets copied in the evening, or lost between two classes. In Martialnote the day's sheet already holds the expected students: you confirm, you fix, and it is done.
What taking attendance does
Every session has its own sheet. The regulars of that class come first, the others follow, and a student who belongs to none of the class groups shows up as a visitor. Three states are enough: present, late, or excused absence. You can add a note on a row without leaving the screen, and the sheet keeps the name of the person who filled it in.
- Regulars first, then the other students.
- Present, late, or excused absence.
- A free note on a student's row.
- The app records who took attendance and when.
What updates on its own
A visit is more than a ticked box. It feeds the monthly count for a monthly subscription, the state of a class card, the list of active students and the suggestions of students drifting away. Attendance taken by two instructors at the same time does not overwrite itself: if the sheet changed in between, the app warns you before saving.
- Monthly or class card count.
- List of active students, for the free threshold.
- Flagging of students absent for several weeks.
In the room, on the phone
The sheet opens fast, reads at thumb's length and closes without losing work. It works with no network in the room and syncs when you are back. The last seven days stay editable for an instructor, so a forgotten session can be caught up without going back to the paper book.
Questions
Can I take attendance with no network?
Yes. The sheet opens and saves locally; it syncs as soon as the network comes back.
Can an instructor fix a forgotten session?
Yes, up to seven days back. Beyond that, only the school owner can reopen the session.
Does an excused absence count as a visit?
No. It is kept for the class record, but it counts neither in the monthly count nor in the list of active students.
