Martialnote

For a jujutsu dojo

Jujutsu covers a lot of ground: strikes, throws, locks, chokes, groundwork. A broad program is hard to track from memory, especially when students progress at different paces.

What your dojo has to keep

A jujutsu program mixes very different families of techniques, and each school orders them its own way. Belt promotions require checking varied achievements, often with conditions of age and practice. Students arriving from another dojo bring experience that has to be placed, without starting from scratch or skipping steps.

  • Strikes, throws, locks, groundwork.
  • Order of techniques specific to each school.
  • Promotion conditions varying by belt.
  • Students arriving from another dojo.

What Martialnote does for this style

The program categories follow your school's families of techniques, and each item is marked learned then validated, with its date. The rank template adjusts to the dojo's belt system, and promotion conditions are set per rank. A student arriving from elsewhere starts where you decide, without the app imposing a level.

  • Categories by family of techniques.
  • Learned, then validated, with the date.
  • Promotion conditions per rank.
  • Starting point chosen for a new student.

The starting Jujutsu program

When the school is created, Martialnote offers the “Jujutsu, foundations” template. Every item can be renamed, moved or removed; the categories are: Ukemi, Atemi-waza (strikes), Nage-waza (throws), Kansetsu-waza (locks), Self-defense.

  • Ukemi : Forward, back and side falls
  • Atemi-waza (strikes) : Basic strikes
  • Nage-waza (throws) : O-goshi
  • Nage-waza (throws) : O-soto-gari
  • Kansetsu-waza (locks) : Wrist locks
  • Kansetsu-waza (locks) : Arm locks
  • Self-defense : Escapes from grabs
  • Self-defense : Knife defense

Ranks

A rank template is offered as a starting point, with no official character: it describes a common usage, which your school renames and recolours freely. Promotion conditions — age, months of practice, attendance — are set per rank.

  • Generic kyu and dan — Kyu, Dan

Questions

Can I organise the program other than by belt?

Yes: the categories and the order of items are entirely free.

A student arrives with a rank from another dojo. How do I place them?

You decide their starting point; the app imposes no level and records what you validate.

A template is ready; you order it according to your school's families of techniques.
