Settings
Who: everyone opens Settings (/settings), but instructors only see Display and
Account, with the note "School settings are managed by the owner.". All other sections are for the
owner only.
Display (everyone)
Language (French or English), accent colour and surfaces (glass or opaque). See the Navigation and preferences article.
School (owner)
Tap Save after a change; "Settings saved." appears.
- School name: 1 to 120 characters.
- Time zone: pick a zone from the drop-down list (for example
America/TorontoorEurope/Paris). DefaultAmerica/Toronto. It tells which day it is for the school: attendance, progression, dues, inactivity suggestion. An unknown zone is refused. - Regulars: a student is a regular of a class when they came at least N times (1 to 20) in the last M sessions of that class (1 to 50), and N can't be larger than M. Default: 2 in 6. Regulars are listed first on the attendance sheet (with the members of the class's groups).
- Students without attendance: the switch "Show absences on the home page" (on by default) and After how many weeks: from 2 to 52 weeks, 8 by default. See "Inactivity suggestion" below.
- Links: Styles taught, Grading systems, Vocabulary, Starting curriculum (reopen the setup steps in edit mode, see the Setup article), Groups and Subscription types.
Communication (owner)
Message settings: the Reply to address and the switch "Instructors can cancel a session and write to students". These settings used to be in the Messages screen; the Settings button in Messages now leads here. See the Messages article.
Roles and access (owner)
- The list of the school's accounts (name and role).
- Invite an instructor: Email (required) and Name (optional; otherwise the first part of the email is used as the name). Send the invitation creates the instructor account and sends a sign-in link (valid 15 minutes, works once). The person gets all instructor rights right away; the link opens the app directly on the school. "Invitation sent to …" appears.
- An email that already has a Martialnote account (in this school, another one, or an account whose school isn't created yet) is refused: one school per person in V1. The message doesn't say where.
- Limit: at most 5 invitations per hour and 20 per 24 hours per school ("Too many invitations for now…").
- There is no list of pending invitations. If the link expired, the instructor signs in from the sign-in screen with their email (they already have their account).
- What an instructor can do: see the Roles and access article.
Plan (owner)
Martialnote plan leads to the screen that shows the active students today against the limit of 25, the definition of an active student, the list with each one's reason, the prices and the measurement history. See the Martialnote plan article.
Data (owner)
- Export everything: workbook (.xlsx) and Export everything: CSV files (.zip): see the Export article.
- Import an existing list and Trash (with the number of items).
Account (everyone)
Name, email and role of the signed-in person, then:
- Sign out: closes the session on this device only.
- Sign out all my devices: after the confirmation ("Sign out everywhere"), closes every session of the account, on all devices, and returns to the sign-in screen. Useful after losing or having a device stolen, since a sign-in stays active for 90 days. There is no password to change: people sign in again by email.
You can't delete your own account (see Limits).
Inactivity suggestion (Today)
On Today, the owner sees the card "No attendance for N weeks" when some students match. The card doesn't show for instructors, nor when the switch is off, nor when the list is empty.
A student is listed when they are active, enrolled for more than N weeks, with no attendance ("present" or "late", session not cancelled) in the last N weeks, and not dismissed since their last visit. "Excused" doesn't count as a visit. The day is worked out in the school's time zone. The oldest absences come first; "never came" first of all.
Each line shows the first name and initial, "last attended on …" or "never came", and:
- Make inactive: after confirmation, the student becomes inactive (no longer on attendance sheets nor among message recipients). "Undo" in the message at the bottom makes them active again. They can also be reactivated from their profile.
- Dismiss: the student leaves the card. They come back only if they return to a class and then stay away N weeks again.
At most 5 lines are shown; See all shows the rest. The app never changes a student's status by itself.
