Groups
Screen: Groups (/groups). Who: owner only (an instructor sees "This section is for the school owner"). Reached from Schedule (the See groups button, at the top of the screen) or from Settings > School > Groups.
What groups are for
- They colour the class badge on the schedule.
- They filter the student list.
- They define the automatic regulars of the group's classes (see the Attendance article).
Groups are optional: a student can have no group, and so can a class (a class with no group is "Open to all").
Adding a group
- Open Groups and tap Add.
- Name: at most 80 characters; unique regardless of capitals ("Kids" and "kids" are the same name).
- Colour: one of 8 colours. The 8 colours are the same whatever accent colour is chosen.
- Description (optional): at most 200 characters (e.g. "ages 6 to 12").
- Tap Save.
The list shows each group's number of active students. "No groups yet." is shown if there are none.
Editing or changing the order
- Tap a group to edit it ("Edit group"), then Save.
- For the order, drag the ≡ handle. This order is the one of the Group drop-down in the student list.
Moving to the trash
- Open the group and tap Move to trash.
- The message "{name} moved to trash" is shown with Undo for 7 seconds.
The group disappears from students, classes and sessions, but nothing is deleted. Restored from Settings > Data > Trash within 30 days, it comes back everywhere. Restoring is refused if another group already has that name ("A group already has this name."; rename the other group first).
Group curriculum
The Curriculum field (optional, "None" by default) attaches at most one curriculum to the group: its students then follow it (see the Progression article). Several groups can share the same curriculum. A curriculum moved to the trash detaches nothing: the link returns when it is restored.
