Martialnote

Unsubscribing

Who: the parent or student who receives a school's messages. The owner can see that an address no longer receives, but cannot resubscribe it themselves.

Every school message carries a "Stop receiving emails from {school}" link at the bottom. The person who uses it no longer receives that school's messages. The link does not expire.

What the person opening the link sees

The Unsubscribe page (address /desabonnement, no menu) shows, in the school's language:

  • the school's name;
  • the address concerned, masked (only part of it is visible);
  • the status: "You receive this school's messages." or "You no longer receive this school's messages.";
  • the Stop receiving and Resubscribe actions, then a confirmation ("Done: …").

An invalid link shows a neutral message: "This unsubscribe link is no longer valid. If you still receive messages from the school, reply to it directly."

Scope: one school only

Unsubscribing applies to one school only. A person who opts out of school A's messages still receives school B's: it is the address, for a given school, that is concerned.

It deletes neither the account nor the school's data, and it does not touch Martialnote's own emails (for example a sign-in link).

The school cannot resubscribe someone

Out of respect for the person's choice, the app offers the school no button to resubscribe an address. Only the person concerned can do it, with the Resubscribe link in a message they received, or — if they no longer have one — by writing to bonjour@martialnote.com.

On the school's side:

  • a message preview shows "{n} address(es) no longer receive your messages (unsubscribed)." and those addresses are not counted among the recipients;
  • the student's record (owner only) shows "No longer receives the school's messages" when their address, or the main contact's for a minor, is unsubscribed or bounced;
  • you can reach the parent another way, or ask them to resubscribe.

Bounced addresses and complaints

Two cases also remove an address, automatically:

  • permanent bounce: when an address no longer exists or permanently refuses emails, Martialnote stops writing to it for every school (except administrative messages);
  • complaint: when the person marks a school email as spam, the address is removed for that school's messages.

Neither case can be undone with "Resubscribe": write to bonjour@martialnote.com.
