Getting started
Screen: the Getting started card, at the top of Today (/). Who: the owner
only; instructors never see it.
After the five-step setup, a card recalls what is left to do to get the school running. It disappears on its own once the essentials are done.
The four essential tasks
Each line is ticked automatically, when the data exists. Nothing is ticked by hand. The card shows "N of 4".
- Set up your school — already ticked when you arrive in the app.
- Add your first students — ticked as soon as a student exists, entered by hand or imported from a spreadsheet. Tapping the line opens Students.
- Create your groups and schedule — ticked as soon as a class exists. Tapping the line opens Schedule.
- Take attendance for a class — ticked as soon as a class has its attendance recorded. Tapping the line opens Attendance.
When all four are done, a congratulation message shows once, then the card disappears. It never comes back, even if a count drops to zero (for example the last student moved to the trash).
Go further
Two optional tasks follow, under "Go further":
- Create a subscription type — opens Subscription types.
- Complete your school address — opens Settings › School. The address is used on receipts.
They do not count toward "N of 4": a school that does not sell subscriptions or issue receipts can finish getting started without them. Each has a Skip button: the item leaves the list without changing anything else.
Limits
- No email reminders, no notifications.
- No points, badges or rewards.
- Getting started does not appear in the menu; it lives on Today until it is finished, and cannot be reopened by hand.
