Trash

Screen: Settings > Data > Trash (/trash). Who: owner only.

What goes to the trash

  • A student moved to the trash from their profile (or with Undo right after being added).
  • A parent or guardian removed from a family.
  • A group moved to the trash from Groups.
  • A recurring class moved to the trash from Schedule (tap a session, then Move the class to trash, then confirm): all its sessions disappear from the schedule; attendance already taken is kept.
  • A one-off session moved to the trash. (A session of a recurring class does not go to the trash: it is cancelled.)
  • A subscription type, only if no student has a current subscription of that type.
  • A student's subscription, moved to the trash from their profile.
  • A fee payment that was cancelled (Cancel the last payment): Restore puts it back and the balance is recalculated.
  • A curriculum, a curriculum category (with its items) or a curriculum item, from the Curriculums screen (owner). Students' statuses are kept. A restored curriculum gets its group link back; an item restored while its category is still in the trash comes back without a category, at the end. Restoring a curriculum is refused if another one already has its name. A category left 30 days in the trash is permanently deleted with all its items (and their statuses), even those that were not themselves in the trash.
  • A progression note or milestone (type Note or milestone): trashed by its author or the owner; only the owner sees the Trash.
  • A grade system (with its series and grades), a grade, or a grade award (a student's grade or stripe): see the Grades article. A grade or system in the trash hides the awards linked to it; they come back when it is restored. Restoring a system is refused if another system was created for the same curriculum. Grades of a system in the trash and awards of a student in the trash are not listed separately.

Nothing is deleted immediately. Right after each deletion, Undo is offered for 7 seconds at the bottom of the screen.

Restoring

  1. Open Settings > Data > Trash. The number of items is shown next to it.
  2. Each row shows the name, the type (Student, Parent or guardian, Group, Class, One-off session, Subscription type, Subscription, Payment, Curriculum, Curriculum category, Curriculum item, Note or milestone, Grade system, Grade or Grade award), the deletion date and the number of days before permanent deletion.
  3. Tap Restore. The student comes back with their profile, groups, family and history; the parent goes back to their family in their original place; a group comes back in its students, classes and sessions; a class comes back on the schedule with its sessions.

Permanent deletion

  • After 30 days in the trash, the item is deleted for good, automatically, every night. This cannot be undone and the delay cannot be changed.
  • Permanently deleting a class or a one-off session also deletes its attendance.
  • A subscription type is permanently deleted after 30 days only if no subscription, even an ended one, still uses it; otherwise it stays in the trash.
  • A student's progression (statuses, notes, milestones, grade awards) is deleted for good with them, after 30 days; their notes are not listed separately in the trash.
  • A parent who was also a student at the school stays a parent in their family when their student profile is deleted for good: their name and contact details move to their parent record.

An empty trash says "The trash is empty."
